Andy Jacobson says of himself that “I am a supporter of arts throughout the city and look towards increasing participation especially with the youth.”
As owner of Brew’d Awakening Coffeehaus, a coffee and food hub offering performance and art exhibiting space and as Board Chair of the Cultural Organization of Lowell (COOL), Jacobson is helping shape Lowell’s art scene.
COOL was founded in 2001 by the City of Lowell. Its mission is to strengthen the vitality and economic growth of arts and culture in Lowell. Its vision is to make Lowell a globally recognized center for creative activity.
COOL has played a significant role in the Lowell by providing educational programs and services that support the growth and capacity of the city’s network of museums, galleries, performing arts organizations and local artists. COOL also has a rich history of producing arts and heritage events for its residents as well as the 200,000+ tourists who visit Lowell annually. These events include Discover Lowell, Buy Art. Buy Lowell and the much lauded Cambodian Opera.
